James Saal is the Director of External Research Programs at Citrine Informatics, a software company focused on materials-specific machine learning and artificial intelligence. James's path from an undergrad in Houston to a research director in Honolulu is one with twists and turns. In this talk, James will describe the intersectionality of his career, describing how life's personal complexities and professional interests influenced the bullet points you see on his CV. He will also provide interesting highlights across his 22 years of materials science research. Also, as a Trustee of ASM International, James will provide an update on ASM's activities and mission.
