Mark Fanton
Summary of current research interests:
Mission: Transition basic materials science to new engineering technology through pilot scale demonstrations of prototype materials and custom fabricated components.
Vision: Develop robust transition paths for new technology through strategic partnerships with sponsors and commercial suppliers. Provide critical materials technology in areas where there is no manufacturing base or commercial support.
Basic Themes:
- Advanced processing of random and textured ceramics for high performance applications.
- Solid state chemical synthesis of inorganic materials to achieve unique combinations of materials or enhanced material performance through novel processing methods.
- Synthesis of inorganic materials via chemical vapor deposition, physical vapor transport, chemical solution deposition.
- RF, IR, Semiconductor and Acoustic materials
