In additive manufacturing (AM) of metallic materials, the processing conditions affect the as-built microstructures which, in turn, influence the mechanical properties of the parts. The goal of our research is to advance the fundamental understanding of the process-structure-property relationships in metallic materials. Specifically, our research group is interested in laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF), laser powder directed energy deposition (LP-DED), and laser wire directed energy deposition (LW-DED) AM processes.
