MatSE Glass Demonstrations
During Arts Fest, students, faculty and even alumni enjoy demonstrating the magic that happens in the Penn State MatSE glass studio. Festival goers experience the art and science behind beautiful glass.

Student and glass guru Bri Bennett (left), and Dr. Jennifer Rygel (right), ‘07 and ’12— came back to town to visit and blow some glass—demonstrate the art and science that goes into making beautiful glass in the glass studio, ground floor of Hosler Building.
Dr. Allen Kimel, associate head for Undergraduate Studies in MatSE, explains the process to festival goers are observing as well as how hands-on learning in the glass studio helps students put theories from the classroom to practice.

Dr. Jane Cook, director of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum and Art Gallery, and MatSE Research Professor, shows festival attendees the process behind so many of the beautiful pieces artists display during the festival.
