The Lunar New Year is about good luck and prosperity. The festival is celebrated by 1.5 billion people every year and is rich in tradition marking the first new moon of the lunar calendar. It is celebrated in many east Asian countries, including China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, South Korea and many others. Typical festivities last for multiple days, sometimes as long as 15 days depending on the culture. Learn more about how our MatSE community members celebrate this wonderful event. This will be an interactive virtual event, and we welcome you to share your family traditions or favorite memory. If you are new to celebrating, join us in the festivities because last year was a lot of fun!
