University Summary
The University of Dayton Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering invites qualified applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level. Candidates with a commitment to innovative teaching and a research focus in biochemical engineering, bioprocess engineering, biomaterials engineering, or biological simulations are encouraged to apply. The candidate will be expected to work closely with a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students, develop an externally funded research program, and build strong government and/or industrial research collaborations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with Bioengineering faculty across campus, members of the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), and government researchers in the Dayton region.This position will start on August 16, 2018.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Institution
• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or related field (such as Biomedical Engineering or Materials Engineering)
• Demonstrated research experience in biochemical engineering, bioprocess engineering, biomaterials engineering, or biological simulations
• Excellent written communication skills
• Commitment to teaching
• Able to pass a National Agency Check at time of application
• Due to the security clearance requirements of this position, the applicant must be a permanent resident or U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications
• Effective oral communication skills
• Proficient interpersonal communication skills
• Previous, successful teaching experience as instructor of record for a college-level course
• Commitment to quality and innovative teaching strategies
• Successful grant writing experience
• Demonstrated experience:
o with DoD and/or other government agencies, such as NSF and/or NIH
o collaborating with industrial and/or medical partners
o teaching and/or mentoring individuals from diverse backgrounds

• Expressed willingness to engage with Catholic and Marianist educational values.
