Physics of Electronic Materials Branch at the Naval Research Laboratory

The Physics of Electronic Materials Branch at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC seeks an exceptional experimental scientist with a background and demonstrated record of productivity in the science and application of electronic materials and devices. The Branch conducts fundamental and early applied research in areas of electronics and optoelectronics that are of importance to the Department of Defense and the Nation. The incumbent will be responsible for performing electronic and thermal measurements on novel electronic materials and devices, devising and evaluating novel device concepts and transitioning those concepts to applied efforts. Of particular interest are applicants with experience in high-performance semiconductors, phase-change materials, memristors and neuromorphic device concepts. The incumbent will be expected to initiate and lead strong research programs as well as to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary group environment and to attract grant support. We will consider applicants at any level from recent PhDs to senior-level scientists. The ability to obtain a security clearance is required.
