Welcome to the most innovative materials science and engineering undergraduate program in the world.
Our innovation comes from our cutting edge curriculum that allows our students to essentially create their own MATSE degree in a field that is of interest to them. We bring the research being conducted at PSU, the largest materials science and engineering research institution in the country, to the undergraduates in the classroom and through many opportunities to engage in the research enterprise. As of spring 2016, our students are participating in these undergraduate research experiences within two of the newest state-of-the-art buildings, Millennium Science Complex and Steidle Building, on University Park campus or anywhere else in the country. All of our students will be exposed to at least one course in computational materials science, the leading edge of the field. Additionally, we offer the only department directed International Internship in Materials Science program in the country, where our students can spend a semester abroad conducting research at one of 17 outstanding universities across Europe and Asia.
