Richard Ernest Tressler,
June 14, 1942 - September 8, 2007


Richard Ernest Tressler, 65, of Oak Hall, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, surrounded by family at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. He died of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

Howell Named as Ombudsman

The Women in Materials Science and Engineering Task Force recommended an ombudsperson for MatSE this past year. The Department is pleased to announce that Dr. Paul Howell will hold this position. This position will serve the needs of the students in MatSE and will assist in the MatSE community in solving problems and conflicts.
 
 
 

  Tabbetha Dobbins is an assistant professor with a joint appointment in physics at Louisiana Tech University and Grambling State University. After receiving her doctorate from Penn State in 2002, Dobbins was awarded the prestigious National Research Council Post-Doctoral Fellowship to do research at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Dr. Theresa (Guiton) Kotanchek (Ph.D. ’91, Materials Science M.S., B.S., Ceramic Science) has been selected to receive the 2006 GEMS Alumni Achievement Award. This is the highest recognition given by GEMS, the Alumni Society of Penn State’s College of Earth and Minerals Sciences.
