Dr. Paul Painter received the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences Paul F. Robertson Award for the Breakthrough of the Year. Dr. Painter is recognized for developing an ionic liquid extraction system to separate hydrocarbons from soils and sands.
Dr. Joan Redwing received the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences Excellence in Research Award.
