Colby receives Bingham Medal

The department is pleased to announce that Ralph Colby, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering and Editor of the Journal of Rheology is the recipient of the 2012 Bingham Medal from the Society of Rheology. The Bingham Medal is named after Eugene C. Bingham, a pioneer in the field who coined the term 'rheology' and gave the world the Bingham Plastic Model. Colby, whose research interests include rheology as well as the molecular-level understanding of dynamics in interesting liquids will deliver a lecture and receive the medal at the society's annual meeting held on February 10-14, 2013 in Pasadena, CA. Ralph hopes that many Penn State friends can attend this meeting to help him celebrate his award.
