I am a Ph.D. student in the department of Materials Science and Engineering at Pennsylvania State University , University Park . My research is focused on modeling of improving reliability of heat and momentum transport calculations in friction stir welding (FSW) process. Currently, I am trying to incorporate residual stress calculation in the FSW model.

I have had a broad range of courses in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering during my graduate studies. I have also been a Teaching Assistant for MATSE 259 for two semesters. This course is an introduction to physical metallurgy and material science in general.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. My senior thesis was the development of a  genetic algorithm based model for scheduling the sequence of different width steel sheets in a hot strip mill to regulate crown and minimize flatness in the rolled out sheets.
