for Fall 2008 semester
Activate your intent to graduate: September 8th (log
onto eLion)
Submit doctoral thesis for format review: September 29th
Submit Masters defense for format review: October 1st
Pass Doctoral Defense: October 6th
Submit Final Thesis: November 24th
Commencement: December 20th, Eisenhower Auditorium

Reminder:
If you are planning your masters defense or final
defense, you MUST inform Michelle Hill
(hill@matse.psu.edu)
2 weeks in advance so she can prepare the paperwork with
the
grad school.
If you are planning your comprehensive exam, you must have your committee fill
out a committee signature page and turn the paperwork into Michelle 2 weeks prior
to the comprehensive exam. You can pick up the committee signature form in the
graduate office, 101 Steidle Building preferably 3 weeks prior to your comprehensive
exam.
The Women in Materials Science and Engineering Task
Force recommended an ombudsperson for MatSE this
past year. The Department is pleased to announce
that Dr. Paul Howell will hold this position. This
position will serve the needs of the students in
MatSE and will assist in the MatSE community in solving
problems and conflicts. Please see the attached detailed
role of this position.
