- Dr. Flor Siperstein visited the group from the University of Manchester and presented a talk at the Polymer Physics Seminar on November 25, titled “Modelling Surfactant Templated Materials”.
- The group attended the AIChE conference in Philadelphia. Both Kristin Patterson and Fidel Castro-Marcano presented posters.
- Coray presented a talk at the Polymer Physics Seminar on October 14, titled “Towards the Understanding of Polymeric Materials in Silico”.
- Congratulations to Kristin Patterson on passing her Candidacy Exam!

- Erik Hausmann represented Penn State in the undergraduate speaking competition at the MS and T conference on October 6.
- Our new postdoc Hujun Shen arrived and started work in September.
- Greg traveled to the University of Manchester, May 19-June 20, to study with Dr. Flor Siperstein. He presented a poster at the Characterization of Porous Solids VIII conference in Edinburgh, Scottland.
- Kristin traveled to the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague, July 13-August 31, to work with Dr. Martin Lísal and study DPD.
- Ibrahim Moustafa presented a talk at the ACS meeting in Philadelphia on his recent work on protein modeling.

- Greg presented a poster at the APS March meeting.
- Fidel Castro-Marcano and Greg Larsen presented posters at the 5th College of Engineering Research Symposium.
- Kristin Patterson earned honerable mention for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (award list).
- Erik Haussmann was elected UPUA representative for the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (Daily Collegian article).
