Dr. Mary T. Strzelecki is a Technology Manager for the Public Sector Personal Protection group within E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. in Richmond, VA. Her department encompasses expertise in composite materials and ballistic science and is focused on product development for protecting lives in the military and law enforcement markets. Mary joined DuPont in 2008 and before joining the DuPont Protection Technologies business, managed a technology group in DuPont Central Research and Development in Wilmington, DE focused on the development of polymer composite and nanocomposite materials for the automotive, aerospace, and life protection markets.
Before joining DuPont, Mary held diverse technology positions within the glass industry. Mary started her professional career at PPG Industries at the Glass Technology Center in Pittsburgh, PA where she was a Senior Research Scientist supporting the development of new float glass compositions for enhanced aesthetics and performance for both automotive and architectural markets. After leaving PPG, Mary worked at Corning, Inc. in Corning, NY as a Senior Glass Scientist focusing on Erbium-doped optical glasses for amplifier applications and also at Schott Glass Technolgies in Duryea, PA leading an applications development team in the area of Low Temperature Bonding of glasses and glass ceramics. Mary has also held positions as both a Project and Product Manager at Armstrong World Industries leading growth in the Residential Vinyl Sheet and Tile businesses.
Mary obtained her B.S. degree in Ceramic Science and Engineering (1994) and PhD degree (1999) in Materials from Penn State University. Her graduate work under Dr. Carlo Pantano involved the characterization of glass structures and the correlation to their corrosion behavior.
