Degree Options

Students in materials science and engineering begin with a background in basic chemistry, mathematics, and physics -- the foundation for broad-based materials properties, processing, and applications courses. Commencing with the junior year, students take courses in Materials Science and Engineering, and specialized courses in one of four options. The Department of Materials Science and Engineering offers an undergraduate (B.S.) degree in Materials Science and Engineering. The department also offers four degree options in a specific area of the materials discipline. The options are:

Ceramic Science and Engineering

Electronic and Photonic Materials

Metals Science and Engineering

Polymer Science and Engineering

Minors

Undergraduate students in Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering and Chemical Engineering with interests can take a minor in EPM, Biomaterials and Polymers, respectively.
